Un rapido e sintetico schizzo del portico d’ingresso della casa è nato istintivamente dopo il primo sopralluogo. Quasi per necessità.

Volevamo cogliere lo spirito della casa. Volevamo da subito trovare il seme del nostro progetto.

L'appartamento è al terzo e ultimo piano di una bella costruzione di fine Ottocento. Accenni storicisti ben dosati scandiscono la facciata. Un caldo colore giallo campisce i prospetti.

A quick and simple sketch of the house’s entrance porch emerged instinctively after our first visit. Almost out of necessity.

We wanted to capture the spirit of the house. Right from the start, we sought to uncover the seed of our project.
The apartment is located on the third and top floor of a beautiful late-19th-century building. Subtle historicist touches rhythmically embellish the facade, and a warm yellow color covers the exterior.

Andrea ci accompagna, raccontando. Ci mostra i vari locali. Apre a una a una le ante chiuse da tempo.

Una morbida luce invernale ci svela uno spazio autentico, proporzionato, suddiviso in locali di dimensioni familiari; tante porte, belle, con due ante e maniglie d'ottone, ritmano le transizioni tra gli ambienti. Alti soffitti in legno ci suggerisco future soluzioni progettuali.

Andrea guides us, narrating. He shows us each room, opening doors that have been closed for some time.

A soft winter light reveals an authentic space, proportioned and divided into rooms of familiar dimensions. Numerous beautiful doors with two panels and brass handles set a rhythmic transition between the spaces. High wooden ceilings suggest possible future design solutions.

La pianta è governata da chiari assi lungitudinali e trasversali che attraversano le stanze fino a perdersi oltre le aperture nel verde dei giardini circostanti.

Capiamo da subito che il nostro progetto deve valorizzare l'esistente, distinguendosi.

Il tratto comune deve essere l'eleganza.

The floor plan is structured by clear longitudinal and transverse axes that traverse the rooms, extending outwards through the openings into the greenery of the surrounding gardens.

We immediately understand that our project must enhance the existing features while distinguishing itself.

The common thread must be elegance.

L'omogeneità del pavimento in cemento diventa così la superficie sulla quale si muovono le immagini disegnate dalle ombre in modo ciclicamente differente. Lunghe e invadenti nelle prime ore del mattino più brevi e marcate a mezzogiorno.

Una superficie continua che ci accompagna in tutti gli ambienti dialogando in modo complementare con il soffitto in legno.

The uniform cement floor becomes the surface where shadows cast cyclically different images. Long and intrusive in the early morning, shorter and sharper at midday.

A continuous surface that accompanies us through all the spaces, complementing the wooden ceiling.

Le finestre, ampie e tutte uguali tra loro, ad eccezione della veranda, si distribuiscono con ordine su tre lati della casa.

La luce entra in modo uniforme e costante negli ambienti posti a nord. L'aria li si colora d'azzurro.

L'eleganza di un ampio movimento scalda invece le stanze poste a est e a sud.

È un privilegio di poche case di cui approfittare.

The windows, wide and identical to each other except for the veranda, are orderly distributed along three sides of the house.

Light enters uniformly and steadily in the north-facing rooms, where the air takes on a soft blue hue.

The elegance of a broad motion instead warms the rooms facing east and south.

This is a privilege that only a few homes offer.

La morbida venatura verticale del legno di olmo ci accoglie all'ingresso. La ritroviamo poi nella biblioteca e nella cucina. Una materia bellissima e preziosa per il suo colore, per il suo disegno e per la sua età e di cui il cemento esalta la naturalezza.

The soft vertical grain of the elm wood greets us at the entrance, reappearing in the library and kitchen. A beautiful and precious material, admired for its color, pattern, and age, whose natural qualities are highlighted by the cement.
